Description

Launch Canada is a not-for-profit competition for student rocket enthusiasts. The inaugural competition coordinated with the Star Dust Festival in Cochrane, Ontario, as Adam helped found both.

The competition consists of three challenges which create opportunities for many different groups and individuals to participate meaningfully.

  • Beginner Launch Challenge - is as much an opportunity to connect with the community as gain experience building a rocket. Teams aim to reach 10k feet and gain points for a useful payload.

  • Subsystem Design Challenge - instead of a full rocket, teams build rocket subsystems and display them in a science fair style competition. Entrepreneurial skills and competitive landscape knowledge are also tested, as teams pitch judges with their business case.

  • Advanced Launch Challenge - emphasizes sophisticated vehicles, student-developed propulsion systems and high altitudes. Systems engineering, use of innovative technologies and concepts, and vehicle reusability are all part of the judging of this challenge.
