Description

Magellan Aerospace Corporation (TSX:MAL) is a global company headquartered in Mississauga, ON, They claim 60 years of experience in space because the company was founded out of several businesses which consolidated to become Magellan.

Magellan manufactures different types of rockets and satellite bus platforms, avionics and services like assembly, integration and testing. While most of their rockets and rocket engines are meant for military use, their Black Brant rockets can reach altitudes between 150 and 1,500 km and carry payloads of 70-850 kg. They also manufacture satellite bus platforms, sold to customers as a starting point to speed up satellite development.

Old aerospace companies have large "defence" sections or are entirely dedicated to military usage, since the difference between rockets used for space exploration and military use are slight. For the last 60 years, Canadian space sector was composed mostly of bureaucrats and really smart people (especially engineers and scientists). Large 20th and early-21st century governments have poured almost endless amounts of money into weapons systems.
