Hi, I'm WPenner
I am a generalist curious about the world. I have lived and worked in Japan and Canada and traveled to a handful of other places. I'm especially interested in how technology, business, society, politics, history, and philosophy and religion all work together. So, my first degree is in religion, my second in computer science and I completed an MBA.
The MBA's focus is on innovation because of my entrepreneurial interests. Highly creative, I consistently go beyond my responsibilities to create systems, documentation, databases, etc. that solve real problems . These solutions continue to be used long after I am gone.
My first book, TaskWarrior for Writers, looks at helping writers benefit from the software package TaskWarrior. TaskWarrior is a free and open source project that sits between a to-do list and a full-blown project management suite. It comfortably handles the thousands of tasks artists juggle, helping to expose just the right tasks at the right time.
I have been fortunate to work on some big projects. I produced online education for the University of Alberta (see below) and large-scale institutional websites for Univeristy of Lethbridge, University of Alberta, and Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
I was fortunate to work with a amazing team as the producer for the first massive open online courses (MOOCs) for the University of Alberta between 2013 and 2016. These productions integrated software, video, gaming, and web with cutting-edge education philosophies in highly innovative packages that set the standard for years. These courses are still available on Coursera by clicking the links below.
