Description

AVRO Aerospace is a subsidiary of Atlantis Research Labs, a research and development company researching aerospace, defence and energy. It should not be confused with Avro Canada, maker of the famed CF-105 Arrow, that went out of business in 1963, or Avro International Aerospace, which was a British company that went out of business in 1963. AVRO's list of products is a single sounding rocket, but provides services in the areas of computational fluid dynamics, design consulting, machining, and fabrication.

The target market for the Mk1 product is not not orbital insertion. A sounding rocket, instead, is used for flight experiments, radar testing and atmospheric science. There is a small but very active market that looks set to grow in the future with the increased importance of atmospheric science on understanding the changes happening to the world climate.

While the big aerospace companies are in Canada's east, the sector is growing a western presence. Building ability to launch into orbit in the west is an important capability for the industry as a whole.
